Elijah Burgher "Hex Centrifuge" 2015
It's been a smashing first two weeks of "Language of the Birds: Occult and Art," and I'm so grateful to those of you who have helped make it a success so far. The show has been deemed "stunning" and a "MUST SEE" by Artforum, and has received terrific coverage on Huffington Post, Hyperallergic, Bedford + Bowery, and more. I do hope you'll give it a visit before is closes on February 13th, if you haven't already. And a reminder that we have some wonderful exhibition-related events coming up, including one this evening:
Weds, Jan 27: Performance of “The Language,” a theatrical piece written by playwright Matthew Freeman, commissioned for Language of the Birds. 7pm - Free and open to the public.
Fri, Feb 5 – Sun, Feb 7: The Occult Humanities Conference at NYU Steinhardt – a weekend long symposium of 14 lectures and performances which explore the influence of magical thought upon art, history, and contemporary culture. Tickets required (*Advance tickets are SOLD OUT, but there may be $50 day passes available at the door, first come, first served).
Weds, Feb 10: “Art Workings” Lectures and panel discussion with Professor Susan L. Aberth, Jesse Bransford, and William Breeze, moderated by exhibition curator, Pam Grossman. 7pm - Free and open to the public.
