Valentine Hugo "The Surrealist Constellation" (Paul Éluard, André Breton, Tristan Tzara, Benjamin Péret, René Crevel and René Char)
I was just reminded of surrealist artist Valentine Hugo, thanks to this post on WhollyBooks (which, incidentally, I was led to via Matthew Levi Steven's brilliant Burroughs and magick article here). She primarily worked as an illustrator, collaborating frequently with Éluard. I adore how her oil painting above looks in black and white, but you can see the original in color here. Her work is stunning - strange and sensitive. Looking forward to digging deeper into her oeuvre.
