Andy Mazorol & Tynan Kerr "Seance" 2011
I'm fascinated by artists who work as a team, like Leo (may he R.I.P.) and Diane Dillon and the Clayton Brothers. Where does one person's contribution end and the other begin? I suppose it doesn't matter, so long as a great piece comes out of that mysterious alchemy. Andy Mazorol and Tynan Kerr (or AMTK as they call themselves) create pictures that are tribal and timeless, and full of ritual gatherings. I love how their style feels a bit naive and rough, and yet is in fact imbued with lots of beautiful details and craft. Would love to see more.
I too am amazed when artists can work together as a team and create amazing art. I really like AMTK's work. And it sort of reminds me of the Clayton Brothers. I think it's some of the naivety and roughness to the paintings.
