Two wonderful things hit the web this past weekend by people I've long admired - and have had the good fortune to get to collaborate with via my art shows:
First up is JL Schnabel's breathtaking look book for her Blood Milk line of jewelry, The Conjurer.
It is so much more than a fashion editorial though. With design by Paul Romano and photography by Christina Brown, it is a mutely decadent meditation on death and the spirit world. Our shade of a protagonist is surrounded in a haze of bones, divinatory tools, old mirrors, and of course, bewitching baubles. I was going to post a bunch of photos, but it is so much more fun to let you wander through yourself. And after you do that, be sure to read this fantastic interview with her over at Ghosts in the Garden.
Next up is a release of Chad Merritt's second book of papercuts, And Then We Are The Darkness. If you order it now, it comes with a print of the cover image, "Shadow Sisters," and his beauteous gold-inked, handscreened "Abracadabra" print.
Words cannot express how excited I am to receive this magical package. And I'm thrilled that he will be making a papercut for our forthcoming show at Observatory, to be announced soon!
Awesome piece!
