Tony Fitzpatrick "The Pink Witch" 2011
I've adored Tony Fitzpatrick's narrative mixed media works for a long time, so I'm thrilled to see he has a new show up at Brooklyn's Pierogi gallery. It's called Nickel History: Nation of Heat, and it's full of etchings that depict elements from Fitzpatrick's own life: impressions, totemic images, and personal fascinations. He describes the above piece thusly:
“One of the most magical things I remember from a road trip was seeing a tough bush in the high desert covered in pinkish leaves. They seemed out of place on this scraggily tough plant. A moment later, I knew why…when the pink moths all took flight.”
Just lovely. The show is up through October 9th, so do pop by.
