Frequent readers of Phantasmaphile know that I am a huge fan of Ron Regé, Jr.'s work. I had six pieces of his in my last show, ALCHEMICALLY YOURS, and fell so in love with them I ended up buying several myself. His comics are a perfect blend of mysticism, sincerity, and just plain coolness. They explores the great mysteries of life via obsessive bedoodled panels and bold, boxy text. I'm beyond thrilled to hear that Fantagraphics will be publishing a book of his collected Cartoon Utopia strips in 2012.
He's looking to raise some money to enable him to focus on the book - and get this: anyone who donates $75 or more will get a custom 3 inch black and white drawing, based on any single word you'd like. I am seriously considering getting a "WITCH" drawing done. Or maybe "RUBEDO" or "REBIS" or "LUMEN" or or or....?!
