Robin F. Williams "Girl as Birdhouse" 2010
It's always a great pleasure to see an already wonderful artist develop and deepen even further. I've been crazy about Robin F. Williams for several years now, and her new work has even more boldness and confidence to it (and it was pretty bold and confident before, so that's saying something!) I love her new take on rural and suburban living - so wry and acidly colored, like an absurdist dream. And yet there is an underlying melancholy to it all that just cuts me in two. That perfect balance of humor and poignance is a difficult one to strike, and Williams does it with fluorescent panache.
