Tabitha Vevers "Mammae" 2007
I happily stumbled upon the work of Tabitha Vevers at the splendid Proteus Gowanus gallery in Brooklyn this past weekend. Her biomorphic beings remind me a bit of Artemis of Ephesus. They look so pure - almost creamy - against the gold leafing, don't they? Almost like newborn skin, which I suppose is perfect for proto-people.
