It should come as no surprise that I am a candle addict, and that I burn through my supply very rapidly (pun intended). It struck me that if there were Bacon-of-the-Month clubs and Wine-of-the-Month clubs and Tea-of-the-Month clubs et al., there had to be a Candle-of-the-Month club. A quick search led me to Flicker Box, which is, splendidly, just that. It sources candles from various companies and craftspeople, and most of them are eco-friendly to boot.
Here's how Flicker Box works: each month, a set of candles are sent right to your door, and each box has its own theme. One of my favorite scent profiles is "foresty," so I was doubly excited that September's box of candles had a "Forest Fresh" motif. The box arrived quickly, and was handstamped with the Flicker Box logo, as per the photo above.
Here's what it looked like when opened:
A lovely card on top, describing each candle and its maker in detail, and lots of crimped, recycled packing materials to keep the contents safe.
And here's the trove that was awaiting me inside:
Four artisanal candles, as well as a Flicker Box logo-stamped book of matches (not pictured). The candles were:
Cypress, Fir, Spruce & Pine palm oil pillar from Sunbeam Candles
Ivy Vine votive in beautiful white holder from Rendezvous Soy Candles
Northwoods Moss short pillar in glass from Eco Candle Co.
Forest travel candle in tin from Soap For Your Soul (this one was my favorite! Smells like amber and loam and lichen and green shade.)
All of the candles smell divine, and it was an absolute treat to be introduced to new fragrances and small businesses. I am definitely planning on signing up for a subscription. And, there is a current promo happening now: $25 for your first box ($32 per month after). Anyone who knows how expensive candles usually are will know what a huge bargain this is.
Additionally, any extras they have each month are sold individually for a discounted rate in the shop. I'd better stock up on more Forest tins before they disappear!
Thank you, Flicker Box, for sending me this woodsy, wondrous box of light to review. You've definitely earned a new fan over here.
