John Coulthart

I've also searched in vain for more details about Thompson and his work. Doesn't help that his name is shared with many others... I know his drawings mainly from appearances in some of the more experimental underground comics--I think he may have been in ZAP!--and his work for Robert Anton Wilson. He provided a set of illustrations for Wilson's classic Cosmic Trigger in 1977 and I think may have done more for him after that.

John, I had a feeling you'd know all about him already. Please keep me posted if you learn anything new.

Thanks for this, I'd only ever seen his Cosmic Trigger illustrations before (some of which appear in different versions in the slideshow) and was blown away by his extraordinary visions. It's made my day to be confronted by a such a great selection of quality work. For once, the word 'visionary' doesn't seem inappropriate!

Here's a link to John's my space page:

His comics Sphinx #3, Eternal and Book of Raziel show up on ebay on occasion and be had on some underground comic dealer sites, sometimes for not much $. He's an amazing artist who never got mass accolades.
