Brook Caballero "Girl with Antlers" 2004
Brook Caballero is one of those happy discoveries I've made utterly accidentally. I stopped by a bar on the Lower East Side where I was considering hosting my birthday party last year. While I found the bar to be less than dazzling, a little stack of postcards containing this image was left amongst the usual leaflets and fliers. I love stumbling upon gems like this, especially when I least expect it. His work is delicate and otherworldly, and is available through Julie Baker Fine Art.
Brook is the shit! He's a close family friend of mine and I love hanging out with him. His art is better than any other painter's I've ever seen or heard of. Definately destined to be among the BIG names after he's dead (despite that being kinda morbid to say about my friend) ...some day the name Caballero will be synonomous with Picasso and Van Gough.

He was also kind enough to engage in an interview with me, and is a very interesting and generous person. Watch this space, as I hope to post it soon! -Pam
