There are four(!) shows opening tonight at Stephen Romano Gallery, and each one looks highly intriguing. Deirdre Sullivan-Beeman's "Swallowing the Stone" seems especially delightful, thanks to her unique visual language that's part whimsy, part alchemy, and all rendered with a burnished golden hue. Nyahzul C. Blanco's "AETHER" channels high priestesses and priests, pulling them into view through a techno-mystic lens. There's also Matt Nolan's curious biomorphic sculptures, and "STATEM FINIS (The End of Things)," a group show of Romano (un)usual suspects such as Charles Dellschau, Darcilio Lima, William Mortensen, Rithika Merchant, and Lori Field.
This quadra-headed hydra of an exhibition will mark the gallery's final showings in the current Bushwick space. Tonight's reception is from 5-9pm, and all will be on view through May 29th. Don't miss this.
