Fatima Ronquillo "The Runaways" 2012
I find myself rather obsessed with Fatima Ronquillo's work. Her paintings are evocative of the old masters, by way of Botero, with some Kahlo thrown in for good measure. There are so many elements here which drive me wild with delight: woodland creatures, lovers' eyes, arrows, gauzy gowns, and on and on and on. Sumptuously strange.
I agree that her work evokes Botero. I'm not sure about Kahlo, but I love Fatima's work nonetheless. So soft and lovely full of surreal details.

Stunning; thank you for the link. She is a self-taught master. That's so amazing. As well as the veiled sumptuosness of her colour, I love the layers of meaning left to the viewer.
