Scott Holloway "Hamsa" 2012
Yes, more gold leaf here, but I really, truly can't help myself. Scott Holloway's current show, "Janus," is a gilded take on occult iconography, and I am absolutely loving the juxtaposition of the flat, photorealistically painted graphics against their dynamic, gleaming backgrounds. This piece is even better than it looks, because close up you'll see secret, chiromantic symbols drawn in tiny diagram around the hand. The exhibition is up at La Luz de Jesus through October 28th, so make sure to catch it if you can.
