There are a few artists in this world whose work I believe in so much, I'll support pretty much anything they touch. Jesse Bransford is one of them. I've covered him before several times here, and put his work in most of my shows (in fact, his beautiful "Every Man and Woman is a Star" was used as the Sigils & Signs promo image). He's a master at braiding together occult tropes and creating new visual fields that play with perception, and his work makes the world all the more magickal.
This is all to say, that if he's curating an art show himself, I have no doubt it's going to be cool. Here's the information for his upcoming group show, "That Sinking Sense of Wonder," opening at SOUTHFIRST in Willamsburg on Friday, June 15th:
SOUTHFIRST is proud to present "That Sinking Sense of Wonder," a group exhibition curated by Jesse Bransford.
Participating artists are Afruz Amighi, Carl Baratta, Jennifer Cohen, Juliet Jacobson, Corinne Jones, Paul Laffoley, Gean Moreno, Adam Putnam, Max Razdow, Dan Torop; the exhibition also includes anonymous tantra drawings.
The show will be on view from June 15 – July 22. There will be an opening reception for the artists from 6-8 pm on Friday, June 15, 2012.
SOUTHFIRST, founded in 2000, is located at 60 N6th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn between Wythe and Kent Avenues.
Gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday from 1-6 PM and by appointment. Subway: L train to Bedford Avenue.
