Coral Silverman "Cell Phone and Deer" 2009
I love Coral Silverman's work, so I was delighted when she emailed me to let me know about her new show, "Real Life and Other Myths" which is up now. There is something totally endearing (no pun intended) about her paintings. At first glimpse, they feel almost childlike, what with their densely pigmented, creamy color palette and innocent captured moments. And yet upon further inspection, they belie the artist's wry, wistful knowing. You can check out this work in person at Portland's Fontanelle Gallery through September 26th.
