Jana Brike "Girl and a 7-headed Hydra" 2007
It does not get much better than this, my friends. Jana Brike paints visually arresting scenes of children and their ever-fascinating emotional landscapes. More often than not, the subjects are in the company of odd creatures who act as either guardians or adversaries. There is a stillness to her pieces which is a powerful visual foil for all of that subterranean pedological tension.
