Dany Paragouteva is a Bulgarian-turned-LA artist, and I think her work reflects the influence of both of these locales. I confess I don't know much about Bulgaria, yet it conjures up for me a general gothic mythique. And LA has long been a petri dish for pop surrealism and, of course, cinema. Hence, Paragouteva's work feels to me like painted stills from cool old symbolist films.
What a find! Too many incredible paintings to specify a favorite. You picked a lovely one to showcase here, and it gives new meaning to 'creeping shadows," eh?
