Ann McCoy "Hermaphroditus" 1996 (detail)
Please click on the image above to view it in its entirety. Ann McCoy's astounding drawings depict various alchemical processes and themes. This piece has particular resonance for me, as the symbol of the hermaphrodite is perhaps my very favorite - much more potent for me than the Eastern yin-yang.
Ah...what a pleasure to have randomly found your site. Your sensibilities are rich and nourishing to me.

Hi Ann,
I don't know if you remember me or not. I was a student of yours in the early eighties. I thopught you were one of the best teachers I ever had and since have created my own school (fineart workshop of rockland). It's been in existance for about eight years and you've been the topic of discussion during that period (especially when it come to teaching drawing).
You made a great impression on me, my work and the way I teach. Just thought you'd like to know. By the way, I'm blown away by you work.
