I was at the Museum of Fine Arts in Montreal a couple weeks back, where I stumbled upon a great painting by Mark Tansey. I love his monochromatic palette, and his clever way of playing with the parameters of what art is. This piece above particularly strikes me as simultaneously haunting and humorous. It makes me think of old glamour films like Sunset Boulevard, where the gowns are opulent and the air is ominous.

Sorry I missed that you were looking for advice re: a trip to Canada. I was preparing some work to update my website and hadn't checked in on your blog for a bit. Oh well, I haven't been to Montreal for quite a while, so I would have not been much use anyway...
