Takeshi Yamada "Battle of Coney Island" (click on image for full detail)
I am bowled over by all of the various paintings and projects created by Takeshi Yamada. Transplanted to Coney Island from Osaka, he creates pieces about sideshows, curiosities, and alchemy. Truly, an artist after my own heart.

I recently discovered your blog doing a Yahoo! search on wunderkammen. Anyway, I think it's rather nicely done. I appreciate your affinity for the mysterious.

Comments: This monumental artwork by Takeshi Yamada was produced after the Terrorists’ attack on the World Trade Center Buildings on September 11, 2001. The image of this historical painting is based on Takeshi Yamada’s VISION of historical interspieces battle between humans and mermen to win over the land of Coney Island and Long Island. The horseshoe crab at the right bottom represents the reincarnated warrior. In Japan, according to the mythology, the horseshoe crab is considered as the reincarnated samurai warrior who fought and dead around the Japanese Civil War.
